BeachBassBone: I can has Google voice! DM for number!

gdarklighter: @rebeccarda pfft. We all know you're trouble.

tashkal: @MotG Thank you. :) I definitely hope to hear from people about how this is working out, though.

tashkal: @MotG It's cool, and that's something I'll avoid in the future. In truth, this is still an experiment.

tashkal: @MotG Is it something that you think would be more or less fixed if we don't break up the long conversations, or more the format in general?

BeachBassBone: Long Beach beats Alaska 86-65.

tashkal: @yunafonfabre In a way, sure. This one, though, never really got a chance to develop at all, even with that toned down.

BeachBassBone: @candicecd You're in LA?

c_a_t: Caught up with the #nanowrimo writing quota again, and barely hovering above.

mikealleyinMD: @dormilona222 Jamon!

BeachBassBone: Time to make an ass of myself on national tv! If you can catch the CSULB v. Alaska men's bball game.

BeachBassBone: Okay, how many goats do I have to sacrifice to get a Google Voice and/or Wave invite?

BeachBassBone: Okay, how many incur do I have to sacrifice to get a Google Voice and/or Wave invite?

BeachBassBone: Morning Twitterses! It's time for my trombone lesson.

c_a_t: I don't understand how some people write 35K a day?? is it something which can be learned or one's born with a writing chip in the brain?

I think the Love score is a bit off. That number is far too generous.

Preparations for the move continue, both big and small. Small ones include things like me changing my e-mail address on websites I visit regularly, since many of them are still linked to my Chello e-mail account, which will obviously cease to exist once I cancel my internet here and move. Today I also took ye olde guinea pig cage apart since the piggies haven't actually used the top floor in months, and my mother will have a much easier time cleaning it after my departure when it's only half the size.

Yesterday I also finally bit the bullet and agreed on a date for my last day of work with my boss. It was weird, we've both known about the impending move for a long time now, but somehow we kept pussy-footing around actually setting a date, probably because that would make it all final. I mean, I know that I'm doing the right thing, but quitting my first ever proper job was still bound to feel kind of awkward. You can't make an omelet without breaking any eggs, and handing in my notice was definitely a big egg.

I was also quite surprised by how genuinely sad my boss seemed when we talked about it. I mean, she said before that she'll miss me, but... to be honest that could have been just words, to be polite. I know there are a few co-workers who most likely won't miss me. But she really will, I could see it in her eyes, and it made me feel a little sad myself. I always knew that I wasn't going to keep this job forever, and it's been very difficult at times... but maybe that's why it hurts a little now, because I'm leaving something behind that I also worked hard for.

Today I booked my flights, and judging by the increased prices this was already a bit on the late side anyway. For a while I was a bit torn about whether to fly before or after Christmas - Graham obviously liked the idea of showing me a "proper English Christmas" with his family (and so did I!), but to be honest I feel guilty enough about leaving my mother behind as it is, doing so just before Christmas would have felt even worse. Not that we ever celebrate much, but my Mum does try to get us all together and avoid arguments for a change. Leaving her alone just then simply wouldn't have felt right.

As it is, I'll be flying during the late afternoon of the 25th of December. (Christmas here is on the 24th after all.) Forty-one days to liftoff.

Feeling: weird weird

gdarklighter: I'm awake and recovered from last night's adventure with @quartzpebble. Thanks again for driving, @memnus!

gdarklighter: @RedTheTrucker wait, Thao's in town?

I finished up the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2 set this week. My reactions were consistent with first viewings: riveted at the beginning and end, but less engaged in the middle. Between the commentary track and the second viewing, I apparently missed a few things:

Has your idea of the perfect romantic partner changed with age? Do you think we can teach ourselves to desire partners who are better for us or are we constrained by the laws of attraction?

Yes, indeed! When I was younger, I was more into geeks/nerds (heck, I used to find Bill Gates sexy!) and now I'm more into macho/tough/"controlling bastard" style.

I believe we can teach ourselves anything, with an adequate investment of time and efforts - the human mind has an almost-infinite potential - but the question of who is "better for us" is still insurmountable.

skullx: @SoaringDragon Actually I was told my way when I worked there. Probably updated it so it isn't so cumbersome. :P

skullx: Hockey Night in Hartford was a success! Ended up eating 1 ticket. No fights. No goals til last 5 minutes. We had fun though! Pack won 2-0.
