There are two reasons for you people being cut. The first is that I feel we never got close enough to be considered friends or we've drifted apart recently. The second is that your posts have been or become uninteresting to me.
As I said in my previous post, this need not be a permanent thing. If you'd like to stay connected to me for whatever reason, I'll add you right back. I just thought I'd mention that I'm not actively reading your posts and the "trial period" is over. It's not like I don't like you, or anything, but I feel we're not close enough to still be considered friends on LJ. This is, as I said before, easily negotiable. This will also help those who were just holding onto me because they didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings by de-friending someone.
As for my books, I've finished Devil in the Sky and The Lives of Dax. I'm now working on The Eugenics Wars. Devil in the Sky was crap, but not as bad as I thought from naraht's warning. It's more along the lines of high-grade crap rather than medium-grade or low-grade crap. However, The Lives of Dax was a wonderful anthology and I recommend it to any short story loves and to any Star Trek lovers.
In home news, my dad's getting more and more depressed. His depression is also causing an anger problem, and he's now prone to yelling fits at minor stuff. I'm praying for him.
Suzie's getting bigger, and yesterday, we got her sister from David. We've tentatively named her "Shirley," but that may be subject to change, and she may end up being named "Opal."
As for me, I'm going to be tested for the Army Reserves today and tomorrow. Here's praying I do well. I'm not actually thinking of going in there, but I'm keeping my options open.
In video game news, I'm a little stuck in Tron 2.0. I know what I need to do, so no one send me walkthroughs. I'm a bit stuck at the part where you're destabilizing the mobile server. I can get the first two bits unlocked, but I get creamed by Data Wraiths while trying to get over to the second two bits. I fight, I get derezzed. I flee, I get derezzed. My question is whether there's some combination of weapons or subroutines that makes short work of Data Wraiths that are far away. My disc throwing isn't accurate enough from that far away, so I've tried other things, like the mesh and the LOL. They're effective, but they're not quick enough against four Data Wraiths. I'm pretty much out of ideas here.
While buying Jenny's Christmas present and some Magic cards yesterday, I decided to buy Dungeon Siege for $10. It's a pretty cool game. I recommend it to any RPG fans. My only bothersome point is that the dungeons are a bit too dark for my liking.
In my social life, I had a great time a few Sundays ago. Jenny, Evonne, and I went out. We decided to go bowling at the alley nearby. All of us had fun, even though none of us could play very well. There were many and numerous BT jokes, especially involving "balls." The alley was peculiarly empty, with only four other people there. Afterwards, we went up to see if the roller rink was open. It wasn't, but it was opening at 7 PM, so we went to K-Mart and shopped for half an hour. I bought the new Switchfoot CD, "The Beautiful Letdown," while I was there. It's a pretty cool CD, even though Evonne hates it. We went back to the roller rink, and had fun, even though Evonne didn't skate for personal reasons. Halfway through, Evonne got a call and went back to the car to take it. After 45 minutes of not seeing her return, Jenny and I got a bit worried, so she went back out to the car. She found Evonne crying her eyes out. Apparently, she and her dad had an argument. She eventually came back in and got over it. All in all, it was a good day out.
That Thursday, Jenny and I went out skating again. We had fun and I actually started learning how to skate for real. I hear you asking, "How were you skating before?" Well, I was roller skating kind of like a skateboarder, with my left foot never leaving the ground and my right foot continuously kicking off. Real skating feels a bit weird, but I'm getting used to it. I just need practice.
Work so far is OK, but I'm getting a bit annoyed at Alex and Jimmie, due to their attitudes. Alex's attitude is all snobbish and "I'm better than you" and "I don't need to bother with anything you're doing." Jimmie's a nice guy, but he's got this "Rush! Rush! Rush!" attitude, where I'm more of a laid-back and easy-going type of guy, except in the mornings, when I'm a real grump. Plus, our senses of humor clash with each other, and that doesn't help. I'm hoping I get used to them soon, or a major conflict may erupt.
Well, my recruiter will be here soon, so I'm signing off for now.
