Apparently, the folks at Google have a sense of humor.

Go to Google Maps.
Click "Get Directions."
Try to get directions from New York, New York to Paris, France.
Read direction #24.

If you like that, I did some experimenting. The furthest I've gotten was from Sand Point, Alaska to St. Petersburg, Russia.
